Welcome to The Well Methodist Church

About The Well
The Well is a Methodist Church - part of the Darlington Methodist Circuit - that loves its community! We are heavily focused on building an intergenerational church and have a coffee shop serving Rijo coffee, a fabulous thrift shop, playgroup, weekly community lunch and lots of amazing people! We would love for you to visit us sometime.
What we do
Join us at The Well for Sunday worships, a pop into our thrift shop, playgroup, a coffee, or one of our youth groups.
Sunday Worship
Our worship is intergenerational and we love to worship and explore life and faith together in creative and interactive ways. Currently, our services begin at 10:30 AM on a Sunday, with a help yourself breakfast at 10:00. We often offer hot drinks after the service as well to help everyone feel as though they are at home!

Opening Times
Our mission at The Well is to be compassionate, inclusive and to walk with Jesus. Through worship and service, we seek to know God and let others know Him too.

Free breakfast provided from 10AM
Sunday services start from 10:30AM and typically last under an hour, with a help yourself breakfast provided from 10AM.
Discipleship and Prayer
Learning to follow Jesus is at the heart of who we are as a church. There are opportunities for prayer throughout the week. If you would like prayer, or someone to pray with you, get in touch with us.

Youth Groups
Groups for young people run on a Sunday evening. They give young people a chance to meet, have fun, eat, and grow in faith together. 5-11s meet 5-6pm and if you're 11+, it's 6-7.30. Contact Emma Walden for more details...

Alpha Course
We are actively exploring hosting Alpha courses. Alpha offers an introduction to Christianity - it is very informal and always involves food! It allows people the space to connect and ask questions. Stay tuned for updates, and do let us know if you would like to join Alpha.
Cell & Table Groups
Community Connecting
Cell or 'Table' Groups are small groups where people can connect, 'do life' and deepen faith together. They are informal spaces, where a drink or meal are shared, where people can be loved, valued, contribute and grow. We aim to launch the first of these groups in 2023. Watch this space and get in touch if you want to know more.

Work With Our Community

Thrift Shop
The Well Thrift Shop sells clothes, fabrics, toys, books, DVDs, CDs and gift items - all at reasonable prices. It is open on a Wednesday-Friday.
Café
Our cafe sells hot and cold drinks, including Rijo coffees, along with biscuits, cakes and light lunches. You will always be made very welcome!

Pantry
Give what you can - take what you need. The Pantry is available during all opening times.
Baby Bank
The Well hosts and runs Darlington Baby Bank. We accept pre-loved baby items and give them to people who may need them. This environmentally-friendly service helps hundreds of people across Darlington every year.

Giving Garden
The Giving Garden is our community garden space. It is a place where people can grow fruit and veg and connect with others. It now includes a games area, BBQ and pizza oven.  It a place of peace, sanctuary and fun for all ages.
Renew Wellbeing
Renew Wellbeing Café spaces are springing up all over the country. They offer a space for creativity, learning and sharing a hobby or skill, and safe spaces just 'to be'. There is also the opportunity (without pressure) to join in quiet, reflective prayers led by the team. At present, our Renew space runs on Fridays 11-2.
